Swimming Sports

Tuesday the 19th of March was a day where nearly every child got a chance to show off their awesome swimming skills. All the effort they put in during their daily swims at school was put to the test. This exciting event took place at the Highlands Intermediate swimming pool where students were able to swim in a decent size pool - much more fun diving off the blocks and much warmer too!
Congratulations to Mangamahoe who were the overall winners of the day. The house results were - Mangamahoe - 1st, Tupare - 2nd, Burgess - 3rd, Ngahere - 4th.

Thursday 21st March - Fonterra Science Fair

Some students were offered a chance to visit the science roadshow held at the Highlands school hall. We learnt a lot of scientific stuff including experiments with the barometer. Also we experimented with some great equipment like the hovercraft, which was a board with a compressor on the bottom that slid on the floor like a hovercraft - it was really fun. The students that were invited really enjoyed their experience of the science fair. Thanks to Mrs Holm and the parents that transported us and helped out there.

Tri/Bi

On the 8th of March we held our first whole school event, the Tri/Bi. All pupils wore their house colours to support their house group. Everything went perfectly with sun and clear skies all day long, even our new pupils loved it! One of the highlights of the day was when everyone got up and started dancing. The most eventful race was the year 8 girls Triathlon where Jenna came first with Lee closely behind. Chasing them hard were Catriona and Lydia. Thanks to the PTA and all parents who did some baking; it tasted really good!
