Room 7 Secret Activity

A week ago Mrs Rowson made a secret activity for room 7 to do. Her WALT was to understand that we are all unique and special and need to be treated with respect and kindness. Her secret activity was to give half of her class stars and give them special treatment and give the non-stars normal treatment. Mrs Rowson did this because at the end of the day the class watched a movie on 'The Sneetches' by Dr Seuss. It was about how people don't have to be the same but they still deserve to be treated the same, with kindness and respect. Mrs Rowson was proud of the non-stars for not being jealous and just going along like it was normal day.

Creative Writing by Adriana

Adriana has produced a fantastic piece of writing - her teacher thought it would be great to share it.

Sweet notes of piano floated into my ear, smooth and soft like silk. The violin poured into my heart; I loved the sound of the violin. It was a happy sound, tinged with sadness, at times it could play joyful sound, but at other times it could be fierce and feisty. The vocals suddenly crept in, singing a song so beautiful it tugged at my soul. It was a beautiful harmony, it felt like it was meant to be together, like a pencil to paper or paint to canvas. Quietly, a guitar crawled in. The lyrics were about his family, the song was filled with love. It was such a simple melody, but somehow when all the instruments and the vocals full of love were combined it created a soulful harmony. Suddenly, the song ended. I tapped 'replay'. I could never get sick of this.

Room 5 Collage Art

Over the past few weeks room 5 have been working on large life size pieces of collage art. Students were told to trace one person from their group on to large pieces of card to make an outline of a figure. After they were done they had to work co-operatively tocollage it with parts of magazines. After that they had to cut it out, then they had to collage one of Mangorei School's values onto the shirt. They turned out really stunning and now room 5 has a very colourful room. Room 5 students had a lot of fun in making them and they all know the school values better. Here are some of them, we hope you enjoy them.
